The 14th Annual Edition of the Rotary Community Auction is now Live
Online Bidding Has Started at www.ckrotaryauction.org
Hosted by the Rotary Club of Cataraqui-Kingston, with the participation of the Rotary Club of Perth and the Rotary Club of Hawkesbury, the Rotary Community Auction is a major fundraiser to help Rotary clubs with the well deserving projects and charitable organizations that they support.
But it is a lot more than that. This annual event involves the whole community as sponsors, donors of great items for auction, and the community at large in search of great deals and gift items. This year again the business community has been extremely generous and the auction line up is better than it has ever been.
Many fantastic items, many of them unique, are available for purchase in this exciting event. There is something for everyone in the Rotary Community Auction:
On line participation is perfect for Christmas shopping in the comfort of your home while supporting Rotary.
The auction is live at www.ckrotaryauction.org from November 4th until December 4th at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time. The auction grand finale on Sunday December 4th will be televised on CKWS TV.
Payment is accepted by major credit card. For security reasons, credit card numbers are not entered on the website. Successful bidders receive a phone call from the auction committee to get payment information.
If you have any questions about the auction site, or wish to update your registration info, please contact us at auction@ckrotaryauction.org.
The Rotary Community Auction is a win-win event for the community; great deals and unique gift ideas for the population, great exposure for donors, and a great fundraising event for Rotary.
Place your bids at www.ckrotaryauction.org and get in on the action!

Who could have imagined that selling old dishes, unwanted furniture and outgrown toys could save a woman’s life and give a young person the chance for a brighter future?
Yet on Saturday, May 14, Royal LePagers from across the country once again came together to host the 3rd Annual National Garage Sale for Shelter and did just that. Thanks to your dedication, creativity, hard work and perseverance, we set a new record by raising more than $410,000 in support of local women’s shelters and violence prevention programs -- a 27 per cent increase over last year. Read our latest press release and a list of all Garage Sale for Shelter participants.
We also raised awareness of the issue of family violence and increased the profile of Royal LePage through dozens and dozens of newspaper and magazine articles, radio and TV interviews, and online listings -- totaling millions of media impressions!
Because of your support, women and children who have experienced family violence have a safe place to stay, a refuge from the worry, and the chance to live free of fear. You have shown that “someone out there” cares for their safety and well-being and wants them to have a better life.
An extra special thank you goes out to our extraordinary sponsors: TD Canada Trust Mobile Mortgage Specialists (National Presenting sponsor), Atlas Van Lines Canada (In-kind Moving and Transportation sponsor) and Advance Commission Company of Canada (Major Event sponsor). Their generous support and unparalleled commitment to our cause made this event possible.

Well it was a little rainy, ok a lot rainy, but the brave men made the walk and not one of them dropped out.
Congratulations with everyone at the event, although we don't have the final number we understand Walk a Mile and the Yard Sale generated over $20,000.00 for both the Shelter Foundation and Three Oaks!
Walk A Mile in Her Shoes® combines big hearts with big feet and brings the whole community together for a great cause. The event premise is simple: men walk down Front Street, Belleville in women’s shoes, raising eyebrows and funds in support of The Royal LePage Shelter Foundation and Three Oaks: Quinte’s Shelter for Women and their children.
There is an old saying “You can’t really understand another person’s experience until you’ve walked a mile in their shoes.” This international men’s march asks men to literally walk one mile (or in our case one kilometre) in women’s high heeled shoes. It’s not easy walking in these shoes, but it’s fun and gets the community aware of and talking about something that’s really difficult to talk about: violence (physical, verbal and sexual assault) against women.
It demonstrates that men are willing and able to be courageous partners with women in making the world a safer place. Someone you know or care about may have been or may become the victim of violence.
Funds raised by participating in Walk A Mile in Her Shoes® will support local programs that will help the lives of women and girls forever.

It is because of your hard work, commitment, creativity, and passion that we achieved another record-breaking year.
Thanks go out to...
- Our supporters who have tirelessly organized garage sales, golf tournaments, silent auctions and raffles. And, those who've run and cycled miles, climbed mountains and even jumped out of planes.
- Our donors and sponsors whose financial support has made a tangible difference.
- Everyone who purchased Shelter Blooms and those who dreamed up other unique ways to raise funds and awareness.
- Our commission donors - the lifeblood of the Foundation - whose unwavering support and generosity is incredible!
We are so excited to share such positive news and are extremely thankful - we couldn't do this without all of you!
We look forward to another great fundraising year in 2011!
$20,000.00 was raised for the Women's Shelter Foundation at our "All You Need is Love" benefit concert on September 10th in the Empire Square. Over 2500 people showed up to support this great event.
Way to go Belleville!
Thanks to your hard work, enthusiasm, creativity, team work and passion we have collectively mounted the biggest fundraiser in the history of the Shelter Foundation and the biggest charity garage sale ever in Canada. This year's National Garage Sale for Shelter has exceeded our wildest expectations - we've raised over $300,000! Click here for our latest press release.
In 2009 we were thrilled to raise $120,000 at our first National Garage Sale for Shelter. This year, because of the effort and the generosity of Royal LePagers from coast to coast, we shattered that record to raise more than 2 ½ times last year's total. In Phil Soper's words, that's more than 1 million quarters. And that's how we all did it - one quarter at a time.
Embraced by the media and the community, the Garage Sale for Shelter was a success on so many levels. Already we've seen hundreds of articles in local papers and TV and radio spots across Canada which are generating millions of media impressions. The event has been great for business and has added tremendous value to the Royal LePage brand.
There is one very big winner in all of this... the women and children. That is what fuels us all and is at the core of why we've all worked so hard at this event.
Because of you, families lives will be forever changed.
Because of you, kids will be able to sleep through the night and women will be safe.
Because of you, there are hundreds of "winners" in shelters from coast to coast. Thank you on behalf of all of them!
An extra special thank you goes out to our extraordinary sponsors - Atlas Van Lines Canada, TD Canada Trust Mobile Mortgage Specialists and Advance Commission Company of Canada. Their generous support and unparalleled commitment to our cause and your efforts is incredible.

Tara's a proud member of Rotary, her she is with all her friends(Rotarians), Downtown Belleville under the Rotary Banner.

Since 2006 Mckenzine has had our sponsorship. My husband and I are touched every year we get an updated photo. This year we are anxiously awaiting to hear if he is okay. With all the devastation seen there, we just hope he is alright.
Since 2008, she has sponsored a team. "It was great when I went out to visit the team. They were all excited to meet me when the coach told them I was the person whose name was on the shirt. I felt like a celebrity. It was even better when I saw them enjoying themselves out on the field."
Tara Lyons was a guest on the Classic Hits 95.5 morning show with Mark Philbin and Kathleen Rankine. Tara was talking about the Wendy's Belleville Salad day fund raiser for the upcoming "End Breast Cancer Walk". Belleville's local Wendy's was donating $2.00 for every dinner salad sold for the day to team "Firmly Supported"

In 2007 Rotarian Tara Lyons participated in the 2007 Belleville Trump Aids Walk.
The fund raiser was conceived by Rotarians Michael Maloney, John Smale, Ken Dickson and Bishop, who said the group was moved by the desperate suffering of children with AIDS. They knew they wanted to raise money to help, he said, but they found themselves trying to put a new spin on traditional fund raising ideas.
"I think it's important tho help out where we can, and an event such as this is a great time as well. It's really a win-win for everyone involved.", Tara Lyons.
The 2007 event raised over $40,000 dollars.

In March 2008, Tara Lyons assisted in running the 2008 Camp Enterprises at Camp Merrywood.

It was a lot of fun and certainly something we'll look at supporting in the future. Below you can see pictures of the volunteer team, some karaoke fun and the camp entrance.
We're often asked what charities and community events do we support.
