The Changing Face of Business

I love this video with Steve Weese.  It highlights so many of the great companies in this area.  Some have been here for a century, others are new but providing global services and employing hundreds of people and their families.

Great Video of the Quinte Area

I love this video, it shows so much of things to do in Belleville and the Quinte area.  Fishing, Boating, Festivals and Concerts.

China Gate Restaurant in Downtown Belleville

The Tara Lyons Team loves Chinese food. So we thought we would get some for lunch and went to our favourite spot, China Gate.

It's located on Front Street downtown and the food is soooo good. As you know we have a few favourite Asian Style restaurants, Korean/Sushi(Toro Sushi), Vietnamese(Saigon), Thai(Thai Gardens).

But for Chinese Cuisine it's China Gate all the way.

Ok, so we did not actually win the chili cook off but we did get best team spirit, which in my opinion is even more important. I think everyone will agree is was a little cold, but the chili kept us all warm.

Thanks everyone for Coming out. Here's the official announcement.

What a great day we had on Saturday for the Flavours of Fall Festival in Downtown Belleville. There was quite a large crowd for most of the day, and our Chili Cook-Off event was quite popular.

Thank you to our entrants in the Chili Cook Off contest:

Our pie eating contest was a sight to see! Our kid’s category was won by a 12 year old girl, and our adult category was won by a 17 year old boy!

We also sold 50/50 tickets, and collected donations for The Shelter Foundation which totaled $174.00. Our 50/50 winner has also generously donated back her winnings, for a total collected for The Shelter of $274.00.

We haven’t heard the results of the window decorating contest yet, but we’ll let you know.

Thanks very much to our committee for organizing the event, to our support staff (Barb, Vicky, Megan, Joelle and Missy) for decorating our window so beautifully, and to all our other volunteers for helping to set up, work and clean up on Saturday! We couldn’t have done it without you all!

Belleville’s Matt Dowsett Wins Preliminary Elvis Tribute Artist Contest

The first round of the 2012 Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest was held this past weekend in Tweed, Canada. Matt Dowsett was the first Elvis tribute artist to qualify for Semifinals - Round One of the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest that will be held in Memphis during Elvis Week 2012, the 35th anniversary. The competition started Friday night with 31 Elvis Tribute Artists (ETAs) who started arriving at approximately 1 p.m. that afternoon from as far away as Florida.

Matt is proud to carry on Elvis' legacy and feels that Elvis was a truly amazing and inspiration person and performer. He says he is truly humbled and in awe of this opportunity to represent Tweed at the 2012 contest.

There will never be another Elvis Presley, but we always like to bring the magic back and experience it again and again. And this is something our very own Matt Dowsett, from Belleville is very good at. We should be proud of him!

Downtown Sidewalk Event On This Weekend

I was walking downtown and it looks like the big sidewalk sale is ramping up. So if you're looking for something fun to do head downtown and have some fun.

Mackenzie Ridge Gift and Basket

Today we went to MacKenzie Ridge Gift and Basket to visit Julie.

Julie was nice enough to do a little interview with us about the new location and her previous life as an actress!  Who knew we knew someone famous!

Make sure you visit the MacKenzie Ridge Facebook Page or the MacKenzie Ridge Website!

MacKenzie Ridge is up on Highway 62 in the Somerville Centre.  Now get out there and enjoy our community.

Fall Colours in the Belleville and Quinte Area

Well it's that time of year again.  Pumpkins come out, trees start to change colour, sweaters and jackets come out of the close.

That's right it's the fall and it means winter is on the way, boooo.  But the upside are the cool crisp walks through the red and orange leaves.  Watching the geese start to fly south!

I thought everyone might enjoy some pictures from the area.

Do you have favourite Autumn spots you like to visit?

Visiting Lake on the Mountain and The Inn for Dinner

We had a chance to head up to Lake on the Mountain to check out the view and then have dinner at The Inn.

We started off looking at the view over the bluff looking down on the Glenora Ferry.  Then headed over to take a look at the mystery lake itself.  According to the information at the lake there are several theories about how and why the lake is there.  I personally am voting for,  "the alien's needed a swimming pool" theory.

After a nice walk around, looking at the fall colours, checking out the lake and the bay, we went inside and enjoyed an amazing dinner.  Take look at the video, and get out there an enjoy our community!

Harbour 25 and Boat Life in Belleville

Well, it's that time again folks. Yep, the boats are coming out of the water for another long cooollldd winter.

We spent today lifting my parents boat out of the water and then pulling my boat, and by mine I of course mean Tom's and my boat. All went well. Harbour 25, which is the old Morch Marine, did a great job and Hasting Crane kept them safe as they flew through the air.

All that's left now is a little winterizing and the boat will be safely tucked away for the winter.

Here's a little video of the adventure.

Anyone else out there getting ready for your boat pull?

Amazing Graze Alpaca Farm Open House

We spent some time at the Amazing Graze Alpaca Farm feeding the Alpacas, or accurately Tom feed them and I watched. Watch the video below.

If you've never been there you really need to go out there. I added the map this post if you want to head and see them.  Anyway we had blast out there, super fun with the kids and lots of great Alpaca products!

Why we love the Quinte area.

The below video highlights the beauty of the Belleville, Bay of Quinte area. It's no wonder that when people come to visit they want to buy a home in the area. With the beautiful waterfront real estate and the new vineyard industry starting, Quinte truly is a place to call home.

Come take a look at some of the Belleville Properties we have listed.
